I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CD AND YOU WILL TOO!!!! Dec 14, 2007 After listening to Sara Evans perform at the 2007 White House Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony I went home and ordered every one of her CDs (I'm listening to "Born To Fly" as I write this) and I am playing them constantly. I can't explain what it is about her music that is so different, but you'll understand when you hear it yourself. I just love her voice and the "feeling" that transcends her words. I'm not a huge country fan and am selective about the country CDs I buy, so if that tells you anything I think you'll really love her music... I just feel so good listening to it. I hope this helps you decide to give her a try!
Perfect Nov 20, 2007 "Born To Fly" is a stellar album. This is the album that put Sara on the charts. The title track serves as the opening to this album and it's an energy boost. It's upbeat and fun. "BTF" also includes the beautiful Edwin Mccain ballad "I Could Not Ask For More" which Sara nails; she puts so much emotion into it. More mid-tempo tunes includes "Saints and Angels", "I Keep Looking", "Four-Thirty", "Lets Dance" and "Every Little Kiss". "You Don't", "Why Should I Care" and "I Learned That From You" are great soulful songs. I truly love every song on this album. Every country fan will appreciate this fine cd.
Just too slow Jul 02, 2007 This is Sara's weakest album, at least for me. Nothing wrong with her voice or the content of the songs. It's just that the album contains way too many songs that are too slow and too long [which aggravates the slowness]. This may not be a problem if you are a patient listener who is OK with listening to music just for the sound of the singer's voice. If you're more impatient and like a beat and tempo [like I do] then this album comes off as lugubrious and you will find yourself reaching for the Skip button. Some songs:
Born to Fly - good tune, got big video play
Saints and Angels - slow ballad
Could Not Ask for More - ditto
I Keep Looking - has funny lyrics about a girl with a "grass is always greener" issue.
Learned that from You - slow, the singer learned disappointment from her man
Let's Dance - one of the few livlier tunes on here, good
Four Thirty - has a good beat
Every Little Kiss - Sara does a very good cover of this tune
Looking at What I've Written, the 3 stars might be kind of harsh. The tunes that are "normal" speed are quite good. It's just that the slowness of the rest of the numbers weighs the whole down. 3.5 stars is most accurate.
Sara was "Born to Fly"... Apr 26, 2007 This is a wonderful album from Sara. While it is much more pop-country than her previous ones, it still retains that Sara sound. It was a huge hit for Sara spawning four hits for her, and thrusting her into the spotlight. It has many great songs on it, there are no fillers that's for sure. On "Born to Fly" She sings about knowing she was destined for great things, and on "Saints and Angels" Sara reflects on a relationship that makes two people whole. On "I keep Lookin'", a song every woman will relate to, Sara sings about wanting more in life, whether it's your hair or your love life!
A must-have for any Sara fans.

Flying High Still Mar 17, 2007 Born To Fly deservedly put Sara Evans on the map nationally, a portent of things to come. I appreciate her first two albums, having more traditional songs along with hints of future success. Sara has a knack for bridging traditional country with more contemporary pop/country without sounding cheesy like some newer artists. This CD sounds fresh. In searching for adjectives to describe Born To Fly's sound, I've come up with sweet and beautiful for the ballads, and joyous, without being flashy, for the more uptempo tunes. Her music achieves a delicate balance. This album has been criticized by traditional purists as too pop, but its commerciality does not detract from her excellent voice or these amazing songs. This review will not describe each song, as many other reviewers have so outstandingly done.
If you are reading this thinking about buying this CD, do not pay attention to vulgar remarks about Sara's personal life or even exaltations of how beautiful she is (although true), you need to get this because the music is fantastic. It is stirring and uplifting, palpably infused with Sara's beauty.
If you already own other Sara CDs, you will not regret buying this one. It has brought me much joy since I bought it six or so years ago. I've listened to it more than any other Sara CD; I listen to "I Could Not Ask For More" almost every day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
